“Our experience shows that various diets definitely affect the faculties of mind and soul”

– Promised Messiah, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (Peace be upon him)

Every Majlis needs to ensure that there is an operational department of Sehat-e-Jismani and that there is a separate secretary allocated for the department.

Secretaries for the department of Sehat-e-Jismani have two main responsibilities:

1. To inform lajna members about hygiene practices, first-aid procedures and health advice.

2. To encourage and promote sports and physical activity amongst lajna members.

● Secretary Sehat-e-Jismani should hold sports events for lajna members every 3 months. This should always be in line with the latest government and jamaat regulations.

● Secretary Sehat-e-Jismani should regularly address important health topics and issues in monthly meetings and convey significant information to enable and equip members to take care of their health adequately.

Report Guidelines

● Kindly send your departmental reports to the National Secretary by 10th of each month.

● Save Report file as “Department Majlis Name MonthYear” (eg:- Sehat-e-Jismani Majlis Blacktown Nov2020)

● Fill each section carefully including the Majlis name, month and tajneed.

● The e-mail address for National Department of Sehat-e-Jismani Lajna Australia is: lajnaaustsehatejismani@gmail.com. Reports sent to any other e-mail address will not be considered submitted.

● Kindly keep reporting precise and to the point. Kindly do not attach separate, lengthy accounts of events. Please summarise details only in the given report form. Report should be to the point using appropriate terminology detailing the activity, its method of delivery, the outcome achieved (e.g. the mental health seminar helped members understand the symptoms of anxiety and depression and helped them understand coping strategies) and attendance.

Sehat-e-Jismani Report terminology clarification :

Sehat-e-Jismani session: refers to any parts of the topics given in the Sehat-e-Jismani program covered in halqa meetings in any mode. It is preferred if these sessions follow the National Program as it has been set out to cover important aspects of health and fitness.

Methods of delivery:

Article reading: refers to simply reading out a written piece on a designated topic.

Discussion: refers to involving members present in the session to take their views on a designated topic. Secretary sehat-e-jismani should facilitate this discussion and summarise main points raised by the members towards the end so all can benefit and understand. Powerpoint: refers to a designated topic being delivered in a meeting through a PowerPoint presentation or any form of an interactive online presentation or a video.

Q/A session: refers to members asking questions regarding a designated sehat-e-jismani topic and their questions being answered by an expert health advisor (GP, Nurse, Psychologist, Gynaecologist, Nutritionist, Dermatologist) or a Fitness Trainer, Sports teacher etc depending on the nature of the topic. By the Grace of Allah, all of our Majalis have Lajna members in these professional fields. If any majlis does not have a professional health expert, they can send questions to the national department and can get answers.

If any other method of delivery is used, it should be specified in the report.

Health seminar: If any Sehat-e-Jismani session in a Majlis/Halqa meeting exceeds 15 minutes and is delivered by a method other than just article reading then it can be considered a health seminar. Due to shortage of time, separate seminars are difficult to arrange, hence why if a session during the monthly meeting is made interactive, then it counts as a seminar for our department’s purpose. It is however encouraged to hold at least two separate health seminars in a year for the department of Sehat-e-Jismani.

Sports days: Any gathering, whether it’s a monthly meeting or a picnic can be considered a sports day if there is considerable physical/sporting activity done. Races, friendly matches, stretching sessions, yoga, exercise sessions can be held during meetings and are a way to keep monthly meetings fun and active. Separate specific sports days are however encouraged and should be held according to your local situation.

Special classes: Although not mentioned in the report form or required according to this year’s program, special classes consist of fire safety training classes, first-aid classes and emergency and trauma response classes.

A picnic, an excursion, and/or a sports event or a walking/jogging activity should be organised each quarter as per the ease of each halqa or majlis according to the requirements of the report and the most recent health advice for COVID19. All gatherings in person should only be held in accordance with the government restrictions and Jamaat headquarter advice.
